Beautiful morning on the lake

Darin and I took advantage of a beautiful morning to try for some crappie. Unfortunately, it was a little too beautiful with warm weather and zero wind. After working the lines for crappie with little luck, we switched it up a bit and worked some structure for northern pike. We managed to catch half of one...a northern pike/musky hybrid known as the tiger musky. We were able to make the release without having to pull the fish from the water.

Turning to whitetails, we had the opportunity to watch something that many hunters know about, but few have witnessed. Deer swimming across a lake. I couldn't believe how fast this particualar deer could cover water.
